When using those key commands, I make it a habit of using markers with set lengths, rather than the default 1-tick-long markers Logic creates when using the pencil tool in the marker track. I've found when working like that those key commands work flawlessly.

Open your marker list on the right of the arrange area, click the Lists button in the Toolbar, then Marker tab - or press K. Set the correct length for each marker 4 0 0 0, 8 0 0 0, etc My new Logic Pro Book is out! Have you tried using a different Key Command? Also if you think of that position on the keyboard, it is over on the right hand side which means you have to take your hand off the mouse assuming you are right handed.

Much quicker ergonomically to programme to single keys right next to each other for these commands which again I find I switch back and forth rapidly between markers.
